Carnival Celebration Review, Carnival's Incredible New Ship

carnival newest cruise

In the teppanyaki tradition — and Carnival’s tradition of fun — expect an interactive, satisfying meal full of surprise and delicious delight. If you’ve strolled along New Orleans’ French Quarter in the evening, you’re not alone in feeling that mysteries and surprises lie around every corner. A French Quarter-styled zone on a new ship wouldn’t be complete without an unassuming little bar that feels like it’s always been there. Call us supernatural, but we’re sensing vacation fun in your future.

Dining Options Abound on Carnival Jubilee

Carnival's oldest ships carry between 2,100 and 3,000 passengers, while its newest can accommodate more than 5,000 people. Despite featuring a plethora of modern onboard amenities, all three ships are named for former members of Carnival's founding fleet, which dates back to 1972. The vessel, along with sisters Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, was designed as a throwback to the ship of the same name, which sailed for Carnival Cruise Line from 1986 to 2004.

The ship had a tiny fitness center – more like a closet – that I remember visiting a couple of times, but otherwise, onboard time was split between soaking up sun, eating or watching the shows in the theater. Similarly, the ship offers a Family Harbor area (not separated by key access) where family cabins are concentrated. This includes a Family Harbor Lounge, which offers a continental breakfast and snacks throughout the day, large-screen TVs for family movies (plus popcorn!) and video game consoles. Passengers who stay in the Havana Experience access the private area via keycard and have their own personal lounge, which feels similar to the Havana Bar.

Interior Staterooms

In 2001, Carnival Inspiration was a pretty standard cruise ship. If you wanted to be outdoors, you went up to the lido deck, where you could hang by the pool, enjoy the sun and watch (or participate in) the various pool games and activities, from dance lessons to bellyflop contests. Balcony cabins were few and far between on that ship, with only the top-of-the-line cabins boasting one. The ship also hosts a new Italian street party with live music and street food at the ship’s Lido pool. The ship, which can accommodate nearly 5,000 guests, will spend the summer sailing four-, five-, six- and eight-day cruises to Bermuda, the Caribbean, New England and Canada. In September, Venezia will start sailing between eight and 12-day itineraries to the Bahamas, Eastern Caribbean and Southern Caribbean, with select sailings also including a stop in Miami.

That’s why paying tribute to the magical spot where the water meets the land just feels so natural. That’s what’s going on at The Shores™, a new zone aboard Carnival Jubilee! Beaches, boardwalks and piers were just a little of what inspired us to create this zone that serves up just the right flavors and feels.

STATEROOM DESIGN

“They need to make sure that their destination is driving awareness,” Stein answered, “so that people want to go there. Once ports develop awareness and interest, they have to make sure they deliver experiences that resonate with guests, so they’ll want to come back. On this new ship, the atrium stretches from Deck 6 to Deck 8, with a Center Stage that stands in front of a bold, multilevel LED screen. On Deck 6, you’ll find tables and chairs along with a bar and busy dance floor, and stadium seating is available on decks 7 and 8.

Princess Cruises Details New Exclusive Ship-Within-a-Ship Spaces

Discover the latest and greatest Carnival ships that are currently out at sea. Carnival has made things a little confusing for Cruise Addicts by completely renaming and refurbishing some of its older vessels. If that wasn’t confusing enough, they have recently moved and renamed several ships from the Costa brand to Carnival Cruise Line. Carnival also has plans to move more Costa ships to Carnival in the future. Coming in at second place in the Best New Cruise Ship category, Celebrity Ascent entered service after her December 1, 2023 christening at her homeport of Port Everglades, in Fort Lauderdale.

As well as being the latest ship, Mardi Gras was also the name of Carnival’s first-ever cruise ship back in 1972. The original Mardi Gras was originally launched as a transatlantic passenger ship called Empress of Canada in 1960 before being acquired by Carnival. In 1993, the ship left the Carnival fleet and had several name changes before being scrapped in 2003. Mardi Gras is the first Excel-class ship for Carnival and so she has some exciting new features such as the Bolt rollercoaster – an 800-feet-long ride that goes up to 40 miles per hour. In the spring of 2024, Carnival Firenze will join the Carnival fleet as part of the Costa by Carnival brand. The ship will sail out of Long Beach, California, offering Italian-style cruising for American guests.

We call Carnival Jubilee™'s onboard burger spot Guy’s Burger Joint™. Enjoy old favorites or find fresh new ones aboard Carnival Jubilee™, where our chefs aim to delight any time from mealtime to snacktime to pizza-time (that’s ‘til 4 a.m.!). Somebody at Carnival knows just what you need, and it's pretty much exactly the Serenity Adult-Only Retreat™. Look, you'll still be on the same ship as the kids, the hoopla, and all the Carnival-style excitement... But you could easily forget, because when you're at Serenity you could not be further from it all. The world you'll find yourself in is one of complete peace, sea breezes and, of course, a nearby bar.

We saw guests waiting in line for hours or saving the open seats on the higher levels to have a chance to see these fantastic performances. Both the Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras have this fantastic new stage in the new large atrium area of the ship. The area is stunningly beautiful and loaded with incredible technology. However, Carnival is trying to do full-production shows here, and the demand to see these shows far outweighs the available seats.

Carnival Jubilee, the third of the line’s Excel-class ships after Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, brings two new spaces to the fleet — Currents and Shores, both neighborhoods with ocean themes. The benefits don’t end there — your little girls and boys eat free in most onboard specialty restaurants and get a free evening of Night Owls babysitting service, so you can enjoy a little alone time. Cloud 9 Spa™ staterooms on Mardi Gras® feature exclusive décor and in-room amenities to help soothe you after a long day’s fun — spa bathrobes and slippers, plus toiletries by Elemis. Book one of these staterooms and enjoy priority spa reservations, unlimited access to the thermal suites, free fitness classes, exclusive discounts and more!

The Bonsai Teppanyaki™ experience is set to delight guests aboard Carnival Jubilee™. The Mardi Gras is a ship belonging to Carnival’s Excellence Class, also known as Excel Class, and is the sister ship of Carnival Celebration. With a capacity of 5,282 passengers based on double occupancy, it is named after a former Carnival cruise ship that sailed for two decades. The Miss Dominican Republic, Kimberly Jiménez, is the ship’s godmother. The highly-anticipated Carnival Jubilee, now the cruise line’s flagship, embarked on her inaugural cruise on December 23, 2023, from her homeport of Galveston, Texas.

Our sailing was one of her first from Port Miami, I was invited to sail as a guest with a media group. Our itinerary was a seven-night cruise from Port Miami, and we sailed a Western Caribbean cruise itinerary with port stops in Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Mahogany Bay. In this review, I will be sharing my opinions after sailing aboard this fantastic new ship from Carnival. Cruise Hive was established back in 2008 and among the earliest blogs in the industry.

And for military folks — or folks who just want to raise a glass to them — please report to Heroes Tribute™ Lounge for great service. We know you guys like soft serve too, so we're throwing in a Swirls™ location — one of two! At Summer Landing, fun this cool is literally always in season. If "big" and "easy" sound about right for your vacation, you might just make theFrench Quarter on Mardi Gras® your home zone. What inspired this area is no lessthan New Orleans itself… and if all this talk of NOLA has you half as hungry as weare, you’ll be pleased to hear that our French Quarter is lined with bars and eateriesworthy of their namesake. What’s more, you’re just steps away from sipping mystically at theFortune Teller bar, and definitely save time to browse some funky little shops.
